Summer of Sailing – Community Youth Activation Fund

RYA Scotland launched the new Summer of Sailing – Community Youth Activation Fund in May 2026, supported by sportscotland’s Summer of Sport initiative, providing £40,000 of funding to help clubs, centres and community organisations introduce more young people to sailing and boating, support participation, and create pathways into ongoing involvement in the sport.

Summer of Sailing funds are now being allocated following two rounds of applications from RYA affiliated organisations delivering inclusive, engaging and inspiring opportunities for children and young people aged 3-26, with particular emphasis on supporting those who may face barriers to participation. Activities supported through the fund include taster sessions, holiday programmes, family sailing opportunities, workforce development, volunteer recruitment, inclusion initiatives and projects designed to strengthen community partnerships and long-term participation pathways.

Applications for the Summer of Sailing – Community Youth Activation Fund have now closed. We would like to thank all clubs, centres and community organisations that submitted proposals and are helping to create new opportunities for young people across Scotland to get afloat.
